The workshop titled “Climate Vulnerability and Disability Rights: Rethinking Inclusion in a Warming World” was held at 2:30 PM on 8 November, Saturday, at the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS), University of Dhaka. Around fifty participants, including persons with disabilities, actively took part in the discussion.

Nurunnahar Nupur set the tone by conceptualizing the theme and framing the idea of inclusion, emphasizing that persons with disabilities must be at the heart of climate action. Afeefuddin Ahmed, Advisor to OCREC, shared insights on the broader climate change perspective and its impact on community resilience, stressing the need for inclusive adaptation strategies.
Golam Kibria, a Disability and Inclusion Professional, discussed health, rehabilitation, and therapy, highlighting the importance of accessible recovery systems for persons with disabilities in climate-affected communities.
Father Tapan C. De Rozario, Professor at the Department of World Religions and Culture, University of Dhaka, reflected on the moral and social responsibility to ensure dignity and inclusion for all.
Dr. Sazzad Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies along with Abu Shadat Md. Sayem, Director of OCREC, also spoke at the event, appreciating the initiative for fostering dialogue on inclusive climate resilience.
The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to promote inclusion and equity in all climate actions and policies, reaffirming that true resilience must leave no one behind.
